Righteous Buddha

Baton’s Rouge’s funkiest organ trio.

Righteous Buddha formed in 1999 when John Smart, the synth/keyboard wizard for The Expanded Trio (Baton Rouge’s own experimental jazz quintet) got into the B-3 Organ. Righteous Buddha has since released two full length CDs; Black, Blue, & Bamboo (2000 RB Music) and Get Right (2003 RB Music) with another in the works that should be out in early 2007 if not a little sooner.

Righteous Buddha has shared the stage with such acts as G.Love & Special Sauce, Robert Cray, The Dereck Trucks Band, Leftover Salmon, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Robert Bradley’s Blackwater Surprise, The Kudzu Kings, Soul Live, D.J. Logic, Spoonfed Tribe, George Porter Jr., John Cleary, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Red Stick Ramblers, Hairy Apes BMX (Mike Dillon), Donald Evans, Liquidrone, Rebirth Brass Band and has toured extensively throughout the SouthEast, SouthWest, and as far west as Colorado.
