The band 6 Pack Deep hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 6PD has a unique mixture of musical styles that would delight the senses of any true music lover. Its roots are derived from a bevy of local defunct bands, the major ones being The Krewe and Rye. The horn section of The Krewe (Geoff Grice and Aaron Triche) possessed an innate desire to move toward a more aggressive style of music and thus hooked up with former Rye member Brian Goad (guitar). Other members added were Dusty Ballew, Lyle Robelot, Jeff Fountain, and Allen Wheless. In March, 2005, 6PD recorded a five song EP entitled This Party Called Life with Fred Weaver of Apocalypse the Apocalypse Studios, Baton Rouge, LA. The popular song,Damn the Man was recently included on a brand new compilation entitled Murder City Underground featuring the best southern ska/punk bands. Since the freshman release, 6PD has been constantly performing to satisfied crowds in and around the southeast United States. Venues include: Churchill’s (Miami, FL), Flamingo Cantina (Austin, TX) The Handle Bar (Pensacola, FL), 516 Sound Stage (Shreveport, LA), Fitzgerald’s (Houston, TX), Thunders Tavern (Pascagoula, MS), The Cell Block (Mobile, AL), Rafters (St. Simons Is., GA) The Varsity (Baton Rouge, LA) to name a few. 6PD has also shared the bill with top notch acts such as: The Toasters, The Planet Smashers, The Stingers, Cruiserweight, Whole Wheat Bread, and The Know How.
Unwilling to compromise its musical integrity or be confined to one musical style, 6PD has employed a mix of ska, rock, punk, reggae, and a little rap thrown in for good measure in order to create a sound that is as enlightening as it is original. Despite the name, 6 Pack Deep is a group of dedicated musicians who take their music seriously. On the other hand, a 6 Pack Deep live show is a sight to see, full of high energy with a definite party atmosphere. Their on stage shenanigans and habit of rocking people’s faces off has earned them the reputation for being one of the best live acts in the area.
