Chelsea’s in the News Again

Monday 20 March 2006

The Greater Baton Rouge Business Report has an article on our new register system:

After relocating from the LSU area, Chelsea’s is reopening today at the Perkins Road Overpass after owner Dave Remmeter invested $250,000 in upgrades. He says $40,000 was spent on a payment system that is likely unique in the area. The wait staff is equipped with personal digital assistants to take orders at the tables and to swipe credit cards, which should speed up service and reduce ordering mistakes. Also, Remmeter says the wait staff can use a tiny printer attached to their hips to print bills. Chelsea’s opened over the weekend for the St. Patrick’s Day parade to positive reviews. “I’m not a bragger, but jaws dropped when people walked in.” The new Chelsea’s, located in the former Old Colonel’s Club, is 5,000 square feet and features porches, new wood floors and, soon, a $15,000 neon sign.

Chelsea’s shifted because FirstWorthing was knocking down the former University Shopping Center — home to the old Chelsea’s — to make room for apartments and new retail space.
